Information on Master's Thesis module, inquiry

Dear professors and lecturers,

could you please share some information on the Master's Thesis module for the next semester with us? Does it include individual work on the thesis with a chosen mentor only? Or does it also include other content, like guidelines for writing, instructions and exercises on how to use data analysis tools, etc.

Thank you!

Best regards, Mirela

Dear Mirela,

thank you for reaching out to us.

The Master's Thesis module will focus on the individual work on your thesis. However, there will be some components, especially during the contact phase, that will help you write an exposé in the fourth semester and the thesis in the fifth semester.

These components include:
Finding research topics and identifying research gaps
Quality criteria of research work
APA guidelines
Library search workshop
Work on research questions
Data visualization workshop
Basic readings on methods

Independently to the Master's Thesis module you will be in direct contact with your supervisor to discuss all necessary questions regarding your thesis.
We will explain the module's structure during the contact phase with ample opportunity to ask questions.

However, as presented in last week's session, if you want to get a deeper understanding of further research methods (quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods) and get an opportunity to do additional data collection, analysis, write-up, etc., then you should choose the Research specialization module. This will not be covered in the Master's Thesis module.

We hope this clarifies the difference between the modules and the scope of the Master's Thesis module.

Kind regards from the VEI team
